The Muppets Movie Miss Piggy

Lipstick on a Pig: Miss Piggy Style Guide

If someone had said a year ago that a Muppet would become the next big thing in fashion, most people would have said: ‘when pigs fly’. But with the new Muppets movie coming out, Miss Piggy has re-emerged as an unlikely style icon. And this little piggy is not only flying, she’s doing it first class.

In the new flick Miss Piggy plays the editor of Vogue Paris (I wonder what Carine Roitfeld thinks of that) and she teams up with her fellow Muppets to help save the Muppets Theatre and Studio, which is threatened with destruction. No doubt those Muppet men will make a pig’s ear of things first!

When she’s not hamming it up on the pig screen, Miss Piggy has been busy cementing her fashion credentials with a shoot for the November edition of InStyle and an appearance as a guest judge for Project Runway All-Stars, which will air in the new year.

Miss Piggy has also gone the whole hog and capitalized on her new-found fame by teaming up with a host of brands to create an exciting array of branded merchandise, which will ensure that she’s going to be laughing all the way to the piggy bank.

Below I’ve picked out some of the best pieces for channelling your inner Miss Piggy.

OPI Nail Polish in ‘Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It’

OPI have produced an entire Muppets collection for the holidays. For Miss Piggy’s polish, the classic red colour has been embellished with red glitter to create a fabulous sparkly shade. With this oinkment on your fingertips you’re ready to party!

V-Neck Muppets Miss Piggy Tee for Women by Disney Store

Although she prefers her frogs legs on Kermit rather than a plate, Miss Piggy took to Paris like a pig to water. Commemorate her time there with this fun Disney t-shirt. Tres chic!

$19.50

Mac for Miss Piggy

Mac have created three items for the super sow: an eyeshadow in Miss Piggy Pink Frost, Rapidblack Penultimate Eyeline and #36 Eyelashes. Wisely, they stayed away from lipstick…

Miss Piggy Pook-a-Looz Plush

This adorable Miss Piggy is plush in more ways than one, from her gorgeous jewellery to her opera gloves and perfect make-up (it actually looks like she’s wearing the Mac shadow, liner and lashes). A-boar-able!

Cocktail Ring from Noir Jewelry

Although she usually takes her cocktails in a Martini glass Miss Piggy will squeal with delight when she sees this Noir Jewelry ring from their Muppets collaboration. Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend but piggies prefer diamante.

The Muppets x Opening Ceremony Miss Piggy Ruffle Dress Shirt

This fab shirt will brighten up any boar-droom wear. Not only is it ultra-feminine with the pink and the ruffles but it also features a print of everyone’s favourite pig. As Miss Piggy might say… “It’s MOI!”

The Muppets Movie will be released in the US in time for Thanksgiving on 23 November 2011 and will follow in the UK on 10 February 2012.

The Mac for Miss Piggy Collection will be released on 14 November 2011.
