Sister Act: Barbie Modelling for Sibling at London Fashion Week

As regular readers will know, I’m a huge Barbie fan. So I was super excited when I heard that she would be modelling at London Fashion Week (Autumn/Winter 2012/13) for Sister by Sibling, the womenswear range from knitwear maestros Sibling.

Sibling is comprised of Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery, who launched the label as a menswear range in 2008. They specialise in knitwear with a pop culture twist, featuring skulls and zombies (I especially love the Zombie scarf, which would go so well with the Iron Fist Zombie shoes, see the gallery below) and referencing pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The womenswear range is apparently “on the branch right next to brother Sibling” so we can expect knits with the same quirky touch, as the Mickey skull and crossbones that Barbie is wearing, above, prove.

Exhibiting at BFC NEWGEN, sponsered by Topshop, this season will be the first time that Sibling present their collection on models and who better to appear in their inaugural show than Barbie, the ultimate fashionista? Whilst she won’t be there in person (well someone has to look after the Dream House y’know) images of her wearing the collection, which was specially re-made in her size with miniature needles, will be projected during the presentation.

The pairing seems like a perfect match, given that Bryan, Bates and McCreery describe the Sibling brand as full of “colour, humour, sparkle”:  adjectives which can just as easily be applied to Barbie herself!
