Going for Gold: London Olympics 2012 Window Display at The Christmas Shop

You know that song “I wish it could be Christmas every day”? Well, in a little shop, tucked away in the heart of London, it is. The Christmas Shop, on Tooley Street near London Bridge, celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ 365 days a year and provides everything you need to get your Christmas party started, even in the middle of August (although to be fair, Selfridges’ Christmas Shop usually opens in August too).

Anyway, I passed by The Christmas Shop recently and noticed that it currently has the most adorable window display in honour of London’s upcoming Olympic Games (with a Christmas twist, of course). The first window shows a medal-giving ceremony with Wenlock (or is it Mandeville?), one of the London Olympics mascots, in first place, followed by a Union Jack lion and a teddy bear in second and third place respectively. The next window offers a glimpse into a relay race with the Olympic torch whilst the third reveals some of the water-based events, with swimming lanes and a Union Jack duck on a diving board.

The details are incredible, from the crowds in the background to the British-themed ducks in the pool and the Beefeater watching from a Christmas tree. The windows also demonstrate some truly innovative use of tinsel. So if you don’t have tickets to the Games this summer make sure to drop by the Christmas Shop for your Olympics fix. With the warm glow of festive lights inside and the incessant rain outside, you may even find yourself getting into the Christmas spirit already.

So cute right?!
